Exhibitions and Workshops

It is through colour, texture and experimentation that my arts practice evolves. I have a voracious love of paint and experimentation that motivates my work. Influenced by my family life and surrounds, my recent works explore the links between the human condition and nature, our ability to survive and flourish. I look to bring attention to the natural world and a sustainable future.

My formal arts training began in 1991 where I studied at Deakin University Fine Arts, with a major in painting. I have since completed an Associate Diploma in Engineering, Jewellery and silversmith and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. I have worked within the education sector, both secondary and vocational for the past 15 years and have a passion for teaching arts, critical thinking and exploration.

Postcards

Exploring themes of family and home, it is hard not to reflect upon place. Werribee has been home to my ancestors for generations; they have set up home, raised their children and ventured on the winding paths that create the memories and traditions that bind us to each other.

So, what is Werribee? A place where the sewage goes, and the cabbages grow? Maybe, but I say embrace the “shit driven narrative” Measham describes and exploit the biodiverse landscape that has become home to one of the most multicultural and important suburbs of Melbourne.

In this idealistic setting, people and place live in harmony, personal effects acknowledge a collection of memories, and the birds, a sense of nomadic ambition - memoirs manifested in our historical and environmental journey.
